    I have only used it a couple of times to remove material from door bottoms so as to clear new carpeting. Worked great! Light weight, easy to handle with good feel. Did not gouge. Dust catcher is good- not great. I would definitely recommend based on my limited use to date.

    I have had this for several years now. I like everything about it. Especially the ability to clamp it in the vise and use it hands free as a bench sander. The belts are always centered and change out easily; something that was a problem with my earlier sander(i don’t remember the brand). I use this on wood only, so i can not speak for other materials.

    I’ve given this sander limited use so far, but it has performed flawlessly. Belt tracks nicely without needing adjustment, and the sander is light and easy to control. It worked very nicely for the first project (shaping the edge of a cultured marble shower wall).

    I’m on my second unit. The first lasted about 5 years of moderate use in finish carpentry, including occasionally heavy duty use. I frequently use it for scribing cabinets and trim, and restoring doors and sashes. Durability is not what I typically expect, but the overall design was so good I didn’t look for a different one.

    Pros:

    Lightweight

    Durable, powerful motor

    Dust pickup good with vacuum attached (also material removal improved- less clogging of belts)

    Belt tracking compares well to others I’ve used- no belt destruction while focusing on the work

    Table top use is great for a variety of grinding tasks, including initial phase of re-sharpening nicked chisels (use water to keep blades cool)

    Cons:

    Power switch is more feature loaded (variable speed, lock on, and adjustable maximum speed) than heavy duty- my second one is failing now

    Dust pickup gets clogged when sanding finishes with just dust bag, not vacuum attached. It’s difficult to clear it once clogged.

    Dust bag is cumbersome and easily broken

    Having recently refinished a softwood floor, detailing with both this and a heavy Porter Cable unit, I can see the value of a heavier sander, but only if you’re sanding level surfaces.

    This sander is the best! Best design. Tracks beautifully. The on line price was reasonable. You will not be sorry for buying this model.
