  • Constant-Response Circuitry to maintain speed under load.

Powerful Motor, Variable Speed, and Depth Adjustment for Precise Results
The PR20EVSK owes its robust performance to a 1.0-horsepower (the highest rating for small routers), 5.7-amp motor that spins at a variable speed of 16,000 to 35,000 RPM and has a soft-start that reduces startup torque. Additionally, depth adjustment is simple with the PR20EVSK : just align and lower the motor and then lock the router in position with the clamping level. Micro-fine adjustments are equally effortless thanks to the wheel on the back of the router’s base.

To help you match the correct speed to the job, the included instruction manual features a chart showing the speed of each dial position, along with a list of the routing tasks that each setting may be used for.

User-Friendly Features for Flexibility, Comfort, and Reliability
This user-friendly tool offers simple, straightforward operation. First, the collect accepts standard 1/4-inch bits to give you job flexibility, with an impressive maximum diameter of 1-5/16 inch.

For added convenience, a front spindle lock on the motor means easy, one-wrench bit changes, but a shaft wrench is also included for those who prefer to use two wrenches.

In addition, the speed dial is conveniently mounted on top of the tool body for easy access. An added bonus, the motor housing has a palm-shaped, rubber over-molded grip
that allows for stable, one-handed operation. Finally, weighing about three pounds, the PR20EVSK offers a surprisingly rugged aluminum fixed base that’s durable, solid, and reliable.

Constant Response Circuitry for Stable Motor Speed
This model includes Bosch’s “Constant Response” circuitry, which monitors and maintains speed under load for consistent performance and overload protection. Constant Response works by detecting tough loads and then increasing power to maintain the selected RPM. Working with stable speed lets you concentrate on controlling the router, so you’ll always make clean, burn-free cuts.

Additionally, a quick-clamp system allows the motor to be easily adjusted and moved from base to base. For further convenience, an angled cord exit keeps the router’s cord safely out of your work area.

The PR20EVSK comes with a one-year warranty.

What’s in the Box
Router, straight edge guide, carrying case, fixed base, 1/4-inch self-releasing collet, drop-forged collet, shaft wrenches, and instruction manual.

I received my Colt about 2 hours ago and because I am building a door that needed the styles rounded over, I used my new Colt. I read the directions, however, if you are like me, you have to use it before everything fits into place. It fits nicely into your palm, not much vibration, plenty of power, and after a few minutes of making routing mistakes, I got the hang and feel right and finished with a nice round over. It comes with 2 wrenchs, although, the spindle lock made the second wrench unnecessary. The quick clamp lever did not feel right, a little loose, I thought, so I used an 8mm wrench and tightened the quick clamp nut about two turns and the clamp felt a lot better to me. The colt is suprisingly light weight and you have to pay attention to the directions for locking and unlocking it because I, somehow, did not lock the tool after I had adjusted for the height of the cutter. I found when I started to route that the base collapsed back up supprising the hell out of me. I thought I had received a faulty router. After a second look, I realized, somehow, the router had not been locked. All in all, like any new tool, you have to get use to it, get to know its eccentricities, but all in all this is a tool with a different feel and one which will probably make your routing not only more fun but also make you a better router.

    1. This is a great product. Far easier to use than any other router I have owned.

    2. This is also available in different models and kits. Unless you are a cabinet installer that works with laminates you don’t need or want the “laminate installers kit”. It is also great (see my review there) but has accessories most folks don’t need. The variable speed and soft-start features are valuable and worth the cost.

    3. There are accessories that I recommend:

BOSCH PR009 Round Subbase Template Guide For Colt Palm Router

This is for the RA-style Bosch twist-click template guides.

Bosch PR010 Round Subbase for Threaded Temp Guides for Bosch Colt Palm Routers

This is for the Porter-Cable threaded style template guides.

    Bosch RA1150 Centering Cone

This makes installing a sub-base and getting it centered a breeze.

Bosch PR008 Base Cover for Bosch Colt Palm Routers

This keeps your gripping hand cool if you use the router a lot.

Bosch RA1125 7-Piece Router Template Guide Set

These are the Bosch RA-style template guides, useful if you are using Bosch templates, like the door butt-hinge template. Must be used with the PR009 sub base listed above.

    Porter-Cable 42000 9-Piece Template Guide Kit

These are the threaded template guides that must be used with the PR010 sub-base listed above. Porter-cable style template guides are available in many styles, including a solid brass set. These are necessary when you are using the router with a Porter Cable dovetail template, which comes with the correct template guide.

I really do recommend all of these. In addition , you may need a thin 11 mm open-end wrench. One of these came with my laminate installers kit, but did not come with the original PR20EVSK base kit. I can’t determine if it comes in the current base kits without buying another. The wrench needs to be no more than 1/8 inch thick. A 3/8 inch by 1/8 inch thick open-end wrench works, although the 11 mm is much better.

I purchased this unit factory reconditioned and when it arrived the only way I could tell it was reconditioned is one little mark on the unit …the case and the rest of the unit looks and works like new..this router has plenty of power and is easy to use freehanded..perfect for someone who wouldnt use it all the time or for someone that would use it every day…

This palm router has the power of full size one. I prefer to use this one over the full size because it is quick and easy to use. I have not use it on hardwoods but I have no doubt that it will work just as great. I had bought Central Machinery palm router from Harbor Freight, what a joke. You get what you pay for. This is great buy for the work it does.

Bought two routers. one for my son-in-law and one for myself. I’m very please with the weight, balance and power of the unit. I’ve hogged out blocks of wood for solid picture frame, used a straight bit to level up over hangs and done 1/8 and 1/4 inch round overs. The slow start up is great, otherwise it would torque right out of your hand. adjustments are quick and easy. The manufacturer supplies two wrenches, one to turn the lock nut, and one to hold the shaft. This was a deficiency noted in previous comments. I’ve another request, add some kind of extension to keep bobblers like me from tilting the motor when in use. no matter how I grip the motor, I usually manage to wobble the motor, leaving gouges and burn marks.
