The tool itself is virtually silent compared to older models years ago, but the working tool bits cutting require earplugs for safety, intense high frequency sound — and you may lean close to it to see clearly the work, increasing the need. The motors have undergone a lot of advances. Very old models do not take the attachments which screw onto the front, lacking the threaded front.

The spiral saw cutting attachment has a smaller hole opposite the main access opening to which the flexible hose of a mini-vacuum can be duck taped, and in turn to a full-size vacuum’s larger hose. With a 1/8 cutting channel there’s more sawdust than a regular saw, more than a mini vac might take, but the vacuum gets all but a little from the bottom of a work piece.

Can cut quite thick pieces by doing each side separately. To get straight cuts clamp a scrap board as guide onto the material cut.

Handy in being more compact than ordinary saws, for the occasional use. Stows in a kitchen drawer.

The Dremel 200-1/21 Two-Speed Rotary Tool Kit was purchased as a gift for my son-in-law. He is a new home owner and had very few tools. This tool has come in handy for several of his home projects in the short time he has had it. It worked very well and I would purchase this again if the need arises!

Although I got this product at a great sale price, I was a little disappointed with the description provided in the ad. It did not state this dremel tool is at the low end of the series. The person who I gave this to as a gift seemed happy with it so I guess it worked out in the end. Even so, I think the descriptions should be more detailed for those of us who are not tool experts.

I bought 2 of these Model 200 units as gifts for Xmas 2009. Both have a defective speed control.

Specs are low speed 15,000, high speed 35,000 rpm. Both have problem at low speed.

One unit varies at high speed, you can hear it.

I rigged an R/C hobby tachometer to the units.

One unit runs 5,000 rpm on low and the other moves between 3000-4000rpm.

Very poor design. Low speed is useless. Absolutely no power to polish anything.

This is a Dremel and I paid a higher price for Dremel quality.

Just plain junk. Sent both back for refund.

It works great, but I already knew that. I found the selection of bits that came with it disappointing, I had to buy one separately for almost 10 bucks. Then it didn’t fit the collet and the thing comes with no other collets so I was going to have to go out and buy that. Fortunately I took one of my mom’s so I avoided that expense. So a great deal suddenly seemed to be NOT.
